Fenit is a small fishing village with bars and restaurants, a well equipped village shop and a summer 'Beach Shop' and cafe. There are many beaches and a well equipment childrens playground. The Pier and coastal area offers anglers an opportunity to fish on beaches, rocky shoreline and pier and there are registered angling boats to take you out in Tralee Bay. Catches of mackerel, pollock, skate, ray, tope, bulhus, ling and dogfish are common. Off the shore catches of bass, flounder, plaice, seatrout and ray are common. There is a local sailing club, sail training centre and 100 berth marina. There is also a slipway to launch you own boat. Other activities include golfing at one 18-hole Arnold Palmer-designed course in Barrow and there are courses in Ardfert, Ballyheigue, Ballybunion, Killorglin, Dooks, Castlegregory; most are reachable in half an hour. Horse riding is available in the Spa (5 minutes away) and swimming on the many beaches nearby including the Blue Flag beach beside Fenit Harbour. The nearest large town is Tralee located 8 miles away. Its attractions include the Aquadome, Medieval Tralee Exhibition, Kerry County Museum, National Folk Theatre, Blennerville Windmill. Activites in Tralee include tennis, golf, pitch and putt, indoor adventure playground, horse racing and greyhound racing. The famous Rose of Tralee Festival take place each year in late August. It is easily accessible to Banna Beach, Tralee Golf Club, Barrow, Ballyheige, Dingle, Killarney, the Ring of Kerry and the Kerryhead Drive.
